A binge approach to any aspect of life is unhealthy and results in imbalance and a lack of productivity. Many of us have been guilty of enjoying an extra portion of food or that justified slice of pie because we had a great workout or achieved something extraordinary on a given day.
Since I was so good earlier, can’t I be a little bit naughty now? Who among us hasn’t taken a Friday afternoon off from work as a reward for a really productive week? It’s extremely tempting, to be sure, but as those of us at Legion have learned, this approach does little good in the long term. It’s important to keep our long-term goals in mind and allow them to govern our day-to-day existence. Don’t fall into the trap of justifying laziness and then engaging in frantic, binge productivity. Take a more measured approach to life that asks the question, “How can I achieve my goals?” rather than, “Have I been productive enough to take a break?”
Setting your sights on steady productivity as opposed to bingeing at extreme ends of the productively spectrum will result in a balanced and satisfying realization of your hopes and dreams. What’s more, you’ll find that you are happier along the way, too. We hope you’ll incorporate these ideas to ensure your work and life are balanced in the middle rather than in the extremes.
